Any advice for Malaga car hire

I posted this in holidays but no replies so I'm trying here. Any recommendations or advice for car hire from Malaga airport? I remember from about 10 years ago the wait in the airport was awful, so I'm considering one of the companies where you get a shuttle bus or they meet you in the terminal. Is this a good plan?

We’ve used gold car and Helle Hollis. I should have believed the reviews for gold car but they were cheaper so I booked it. Never again.
Helle Hollis are off airport. We found them to be very good but more expensive - and we did have to wait in a bit of a queue. But I’d use them again.

We have a house in Malaga so have been backwards and forwards several times a year for well over a decade now. We always use Malaga Car (malagacar.com). They are not inside the airport, but are in the units inside the airport area. They pick you up and drop you off using a courtesy bus, and have always been on time, efficient and economical.

Good to know about Gold Car, I find hiring cars really stressful so don't want a bad experience!

We use doyouspain it's a comparison site and always choose on site rentals so we can pick them up in the airport. What we have noticed though is you have to be relatively accurate in your timings as if your too early you have to wait for the time you've booked, and if your too late I've heard of them giving your car away!

We were very happy with Espacar last year.

I am old enough to remember when car hire at Malaga was conducted from the roasting hot underground car park, known in our house as Hells Kitchen.🤪🤪
