I’m 60 and while I’ve always been slim, the last 10 years I’ve really struggled to put on and maintain weight.
I’m 5ft 5 and hover around 8 stone but if I don’t weigh myself regularly I will drop below this and can often look quite scrawny. My boyfriend hugged me today and said I’d lost weight again.
the emphasis is always on people trying to lose weight but quite a few struggle to maintain a healthy weight and while it may be chic to be skinny when you’re young it isn’t so flattering as we age.
for context today I had 2 boiled eggs with toast with lots of butter for breakfast, 2 cups of coffee with double cream ; a cheese sandwich for lunch; toast and marmite and a jam sandwich at teatime then a beef burger with new potatoes with lots of butter followed by bendicks mints. Now I’m going to have a weight gain Mana drink which is 300 calories a carton.
I don’t have a huge appetite so it’s no good saying eat more. I think my stomach has shrunk with age. I always use double cream instead of milk and get through a lot of butter but don’t have a sweet tooth.
I’m otherwise healthy though quite anxious and naturally quite active.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Any weight gain drinks that are recommended? Most of them are vile and very sweet.
