Where is really nice to eat in the Manchester area or city centre?

please can I have suggestions of somewhere, happy to pay up to £100 for two

Any particular cuisine or vibe that you're going for?

No particular type of vibe or food, something as a treat though.

Have previously eaten a 20 storeys but was thinking it would be nice to try somewhere different.

I only really know Manchester restaurants through vegetarian eyes. A very popular vegetarian place, which I would love to go to, is Eddie Shepherd, but I don't think he does lunch except maybe on Sundays, and you have to book months in advance, in any case, as space is very limited. www.veggiechef.co.uk. A definitely not veggie choice would be Hawksmoor. I really like 10 Tib Lane. Climat is apparently fabulous, but I haven't been yet and I'm not sure if your budget would cover it. The Ivy. Australasia. The Sparrows. Canto. El Gato Negro. Kala. Elnecot. Edinburgh Castle. 6 by Nico. All good, some a bit more insta friendly than others.

As mentioned up thread, Greens in Didsbury is lovely and fully vegetarian. Less ‘insta’ / posh than some of the others but really nice food.

If you’re in or near Didsbury, Number 4 Warburton Street is excellent, though I’m not sure about lunch openings (maybe just weekends?).

Last couple of times I've been to Dishoom it seems to have gone properly downhill. Even the black dhal wasn't good, which made me very sad.

My son and his girlfriend took me to Volta in Didsbury last week. A lovely meal of ‘small plates’ and cocktails.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom. there is one in Sale, have you been to that Greens and if so which is nicer to eat at? Loving the look of the menu

Mushroo. sparrows does look really good - but not open lunchtimes during the week sadly - otherwise the would be top of my list.

The refuge on Oxford road is ran by the same people as Volta for a similar menu city centre

We were at Kala last weekend and it was fabulous! Also love Australasia.

@ivykaty44 the greens in sale is more focussed on small plates, whereas Didsbury a bit more traditional. Both are lovely!

Id probably say Sale Greens is a tiny bit nicer food wise, but Didsbury as a location is nicer if you’re after drinks afterwards.

I'm sorry, I don't know Manchester at all well, I've only been there twice when my daughter was studying there and I haven't been to Sale at all, as far as I can recall. But the Greens in Didsbury was my first experience of good vegetarian food which wasn't Indian, and I found the restaurant very pleasant. I've just thought of another place we went to in Didsbury which was not solely vegetarian, not very posh but also lovely - it was called Hispi.
I remember meeting a friend from the area in the restaurant of a hotel in the city centre which had been highly recommended but was singularly disappointing. Also really disliked Tattu's atmosphere and can't remember what the food was like, I think we thought it was overpriced for what it was.
My daughter has been for drinks at somewhere called the Sky Bar, I think, in a very tall building, I'm not sure if they also do food there or how good it is if they do.
