Night time herbal tea and upsetting dreams

After having trouble sleeping for a while now I decided to try some bed time herbal tea and a few drops of rescue remedy.
Must have dropped of pretty quickly as woke up just after midnight feeling like I’d been asleep a while but still groggy as hell after a weird dream.
Then still woke up about 5 times all after mental dreams but still managed to go back to sleep quickly.
All in all I got loads more sleep than usual but at the cost of all these unsettling dreams. Anyone had similar? do the dreams stop?

It was tik tok tea by the way nothing dodgy

does the tea contain Valerian? I’ve tried various herbal teas to help me sleep but if there’s valerian in them then it’s a guaranteed night of crazy/vivid dreams.
don't like it one bit.

I have tried the tik tok tea and nothing resulted. I have however experienced similar but when I took a dbl dose of valerian root tablets late afternoon evening as in before bed I had exactly your experience very imaginative intense dreams and could have 4 rounds if the dreams woke me. So Valarian is in the Tik Tok tea if its the one with a cat on the front? The best herbal sleep tea is the Clipper one not sure if its snore and peace or the other one. I could check but intense dreams from Valarian root tablets the reason I took two before bed is because they make me lethargic if I have them spaced out dose so I avoid a daytime dose.

It does have a cat on but these are the Ingredients?

Camomile, apple, rooibos, honeybush, lemon balm, aniseed, liquorice, lavender, blackberry leaves, cinnamon.

Nothing in that tea is going to do anything like you've explained. You are probably dreaming vividly because you'd managed to finally sleep.

Pukka Night Time Tea. No dreams.

Darlingx · 24/01/2023 07:25

The Clipper tea seems to work best for me but it just shows how different we all are to responding to ingredients . I am not sure what it can be but I enjoyed the taste of the Tik Tok tea but its hard to find

more likely to be whatever was in the rescue remedy

Nimbostratus100 · 24/01/2023 07:26

but there is a hell of a lot of tannin there - far more than in actual tea, maybe its that

Thank you! I mean I was thrilled to fall to sleep so quickly, sometimes it takes 2-3 hours so could stop the dreams if I keep going Grin

That's interesting! I don't drink much tea and also only drink decaf of anything and have done for years

Exactly its the rescue remedy bingo well done. So the sleep easy tea by clipper tea works best for me :-) as in no intense dreams but sends me off and works on my partner too

storminabuttercup · 24/01/2023 07:30

Off to check what's in the rescue remedy- it's the day time one but I have ordered the night time one.

Also off to check out all the other recommendations.

I've been awake an hour now and feel much better than I usually do, more rested but also kind of odd. A bit sad feeling.

I should point out if anyone's going to react odd to anything it's me, painkillers make me drowsy, even paracetamol. I'm a bit odd

Hi! I literally just googled this exact question as I have started having a night time tea before bed for the past 5 days and have noticed very odd dreams. I have just googled Valerian which is one of the ingredients and it says one of the main side effects is Vivid Dreams. www.healthline.com/nutrition/valerian-root-side-effects
