Washing An Oodie

Have any of you machine washed your Oodie, and managed to retain its softness? If so, how?!
I have looked on the oodie website, which seems to recommend hand washing, but after some first hand experiences of washing in a machine.

Washed a couple of times, it’s retained its softness but I did tumbledry.

crookedhoosie · 23/01/2023 19:57

I just stick it in the hand wash programme on the machine. I never looked the label tbh 😳

Leeds2 · 23/01/2023 20:02

Thanks, both.

I'm not sure my machine has a hand wash programme, so will check. I certainly don't want to hand wash it manually, as I think it would be too heavy when wet.

If no hand wash I'd do a wool wash at 30

WaveyGodshawk · 23/01/2023 20:04

Glad you've asked this OP. I've been afraid to wash my dcs in case I ruin it!
@crookedhoosie If washing on hand wash cycle in machine does that still spin it? Have visions of it dripping wet for days after!
Thanks

PAFMO · 23/01/2023 20:04

I do dd's on a 30 wool wash. It's fine.

crookedhoosie · 23/01/2023 20:05

I just spin it on the lowest spin setting - 400 whatevers on my machine. And then hang it up. It doesn't take long to dry.

RedCarsGoFaster · 23/01/2023 20:06

I think it just went in on a normal wash, so probably at 40c and on a 2hr cycle (lots of soaking) and a high spin. It was dried by hanging it over the stair banisters as we don't have a tumble dryer. No issues at all with it staying lovely and soft, but I've only washed it twice in a year......

BigFloppa · 23/01/2023 20:08

Just washed and tumble dried mine as I would any other clothes

doodleygirl · 23/01/2023 20:08

Normal 40 degree wash, 1200 spin and tumble dry until damp. It’s still like new.

FashionDoggy · 23/01/2023 20:09

Washed mine yesterday, I didn't read the label, just bunged it in on a 40 wash and tumbled. It's lovely and soft and nothing has happened to it!

ClockingTime · 23/01/2023 20:17

I just throw mine in the washing machine then tumble dry them.
They come out soft.

WaveyGodshawk · 23/01/2023 20:19

Great, thanks all.

MunsteadWood · 23/01/2023 20:24

I've machine washed mine too, after I managed to spill red wine down the front (living the dream Grin) Can't remember setting but prob wool or maybe 30 delicates. It came out fine. Don't have a tumble drier, just dried on radiator.

ManyNameChanges · 23/01/2023 20:43

Same here.

Machine wash on the wool cycle p.
The inside bobbled a bit but both inside and outside are still lovely soft and warm

watchingpullimgepisode6 · 23/01/2023 21:47

I never even thought about it. Just chucked it in normal wash then the dryer.
I wash a quick 30 minute wash on 40
Mine was totally fine
