Follow up after job interview

If you had an 'informal chat' by telephone last Wednesday and they said they would contact you later that day or the next day (Thursday) to set up a formal interview and you still hadn't heard by today, would you chase and if so what would you say?

Never heard back (about the job or to this post!). That's happened to me a couple of times now. Is that the norm now, that they just don't contact you if they don't want you? I thought you used to get polite rejections!

Why didn’t you follow up the next day?
I would be chasing (not ideal but if I wanted the job I’d want to know what was happening)

@Youcangoyourownwayyyy I feel like I embarrassed myself by saying some stupid things , so I don't want to embarrass myself further by chasing and seeming desperate ! Plus one of the people who interviewed me is someone I'm likely to encounter at future work events, just feeling embarrassed about it now and want to hide away!
