Anyone familiar with Barnsley, South Yorkshire?

I’m planning a trip to the water park at the Metrodome in Barnsley and looking for somewhere to eat afterwards. Was think TGI Fridays. Does anyone know if it’s walkable from the Metrodome? Or are there other good places to eat near the Metrodome with kids! Thanks in advance!

There isn't much at the Metrodome (Dd was invited to a party there but they decided to go somewhere else for food as the food didn't appeal there!). The metrodome isn't in the town centre proper but it is walkable to the town centre and the new glassworks where TGI Fridays is I think.

I've heard the TGI's isn't great but can highly recommend Estabulo. Everything in Barnsley is walkable from the Metrodome.

Posted too soon. Really good salad bar and their minted lamb is fabulous, The beef is great as well. Both the lunch menu and the evening menu are well worth the money.

There’s a new food hall called Market Kitchen opposite TGI Fridays that is very good. It has an ice cream parlour, stone baked pizza, Indian, Mediterranean, Balkan and a bar that does excellent cocktails.

Where did you end up going?

We’re going next Saturday. I have booked TGIs as there are 9 of us including 5 kids and I figured it would cater to everyone’s tastes :)

The car park behind the Courthouse is free on Saturdays (for 3 hours). You just need to get a (free) ticket from the pay and display machine.

I have been thinking about this further and would advise driving to The Courthouse car park. It is near the interchange and much nearer The Glassworks. There are some busy main roads to cross from the Metrodome, so I would move the car nearer. Also, Barnsley are playing at home this weekend, and the stadium is next to the Metrodome so the car park might be busier than normal.

Watch out for the big waterslide, it really hurts your bum!
