Sides to have with steak?

Hi,

Cooking me & my partner a steak for tea tonight.

Just wondering about nice sides to have with it.

Was thinking:

King prawns, chunky chips, salad/brocolli.

Any other fab ideas?

Big mushrooms, grilled, with blue cheese crumbled into them and grilled again so it's melty. Rocket and parmesan salad.

I'd have thin chips and a classic salad.

Or mash and corn on the cob?

We tend to have salad, onion rings, chunky chips and steak sauce. Maybe watercress and French mustard sometimes too

We normally have a few chips, mushrooms, grilled tomato, fried onions or onion rings. Sometimes a side salad too with coleslaw.

Creamed leeks, baked mushroom and chunky chips

We always have Macaroni cheese .

A universal and obvious addition to beef will be potatoes - mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, idaho and other variations of it. You can add a light mushroom sauce to the vegetable. Asparagus, Brussels sprouts or spinach are also excellent with beef; these vegetables can be stewed in a pan with cream or boiled.

King prawns? Save them for tomorrow with a stir fry, or risotto.

Fat triple cooked chips , grilled tomatoes, and either French beans or tender stem broccoli with the steak.

After 16.00 (that way you can obsess about where the manager is too)!

@Rnm62 I usually do prawns as a starter. Perfect to eat while the steak is resting.

We like our steak very simple - garlic butter on top, chunky chips with a mayonnaise sauce of some kind. Dressed salad on the side.

Or,

Pepper sauce. Potatoes, parboiled, then fried in butter with garlic and thyme. Mushrooms or greens on the side.

I like a big mushroom stuffed with goats cheese (and lemon, garlic, thyme etc), some asparagus, shoestring fries and a garlic butter for the steak. And a big pile of dressed rocket on the side.
To be fair id have most of the sides mentioned here, we have Friday steak night and usually mix up the sides, but the top ones are my favourites.

Either thick cut chips, onion rings, mushrooms and red wine sauce or gravy.
Or gratin/potato dauphinoise with green beans.
Or could have with french fries and a salad if you prefer this type of thing.

Sounds weird, but we love onion bhajis with steak sometimes, add a card and a bit of salad and you’re good to go.
