Anyone experienced this

Sorry I know I should have put in general health but worried.

Last night at around 3am I woke up with a dead left leg. As I got up to go to the toilet I noticed my whole left side was numb and very weak. It made me slit my words but mouth looked normal just super numb.

It's nearly back to normal now just a massive headache now and a little dazed.

Don't want to go to hospital and be a waste of their time.
Anyone experienced anything like this?

I would be ringing 111 with those symptoms.

Daisy95 · 22/01/2023 11:09

@Whatmarbles thank you for giving me the push I am on hold to them now

I hope you are ok. You need to be checked in case you’ve had a stroke.

That could be a TIA- precursor for a full stroke. You need urgent medical attention to rule it out.

Whatmarbles · 22/01/2023 11:24

@Daisy95 good, I hope it ends up being something and nothing.

I agree with PP to call 111, I used to get this when I got a migraine, my whole Right side would go numb, I couldn't pick anything up, walk, and my speech would be slurred. Vomiting, couldn't keep water down, I'd have a blinding headache for 2 days after, and feel very groggy for the next week.

Thankfully these started to ease and I only get them very rarely now.

Definitely get checked but also sounds like a rare form of migraine. It's called hemiplegic migraine and mimics a stroke.

I am now in A&e, thank you all!

Just to update you all it was a TIA, so thank you all for telling me to get checked. I'm only 27 so was very shocked by it

Gosh @Daisy95 that must have come as a shock to you, especially at your age.
I have no experience of these. What happens now? Is there any preventative, or is it just a case of monitoring?

Yes definitely a shock, I'm on a high dose aspirin and then to the stroke clinic in 2 weeks to review with the consultant. Thanks for checking back
