Credits/Debits on energy bills - anyone else concerned this makes it harder to spot potential errors?

My bills are all over the place because of bill reversals & govt credit - and it’s making it hard to work out what’s going on.

I know most bills will be accurately worked out however two different companies made significant mistakes in the past which were only caught by me and only refunded after a lot of toing & froing, providing evidence etc.

We all know well I didn’t until until I took part in a shopping trial that supermarkets can have ‘offers’ that end up more expensive than buying separately.

The bogofs, multibuy offers & differing pack weights can make it hard to spot at first until I’ve done the maths & the shelf labels often also mix £per g with £per kg or £per item.

I’m increasingly concerned that the multitude of credit/debit payments, price cap, price changes, bill reversals etc make it harder for customers to check bills themselves or is it just me?

I’ve phoned re d/d increases and actually been lied to on the call, only getting a result as I had bills/figures in front of me at the time.

Now with all the additions/usage/govt subsidies/bill reversals I can’t make head or tail of my latest bills. I’ve since written to both to ask for clarification on bills and been studiously ignored.

Is anyone else concerned about how accurate their bill is or even just finding it difficult to interpret bills with all the +/- going on?
