If you get the carers allowance part of UC, does the person you are caring for lose any money? From either PIP or UC themselves?

If the person you start caring for receives the severe disablement premium because they have an entitlement to CA but live alone and don’t have anyone down as claiming CA for them, then they would lose that premium. If they also get any other council benefits based on receiving the SDP they would also be affected.

They will also lose it if someone claims the Carers Element of UC as caring for them, even if they don’t claim CA.
