The mental load - reading etc

I've been speaking to my DH about the mental load recently - trying to convey how it's an actual "thing" and feminist issue rather than just me moaning about my to-do list. He's saying he wants to understand more. Is there anything I can signpost him to? Eg a useful book, or TED talk or something?

I think experience of the 'mental load' might be more helpful in this instance. I suggest you task him with a few ongoing responsibilities that will need to be done regularly and remembered - for example maybe make him responsible for organising all of the gifts and cards for family and friends this year. Don't remind him that they need doing, let him forget and suffer the consequences. He'll fully understand then!

The book Fair Play is quite well reviewed though I haven't read it myself yet...

I don't think that's going to work quickly enough to be honest! He'd have to have a different job and our set up would need to change for more of the mental load to fall on him!

Yes I've read Fair Play actually - that's quite a good idea.

Thanks for the article too

I think this is quite funny.

Your DH could probably take on the mental load of finding his own resources to read up on this, having been informed it's a 'thing'. But here you are, taking on that mental load for him...
