Do you think they help with sleep ?

Yes, they work for me. Anything with a decent amount of Valerian in I find pretty effective, and I don't develop a tolerance for it.

nowtygaffer · 20/01/2023 22:20

No, I've tried them the last 3 nights and had rubbish sleep each night!

Pringlepopping · 20/01/2023 22:20

They are a bit smelly aren't they !!

I've taken them in the past and I found that there was sweet spot when I felt drowsy but if so didn't sleep then it wore off

Pringlepopping · 20/01/2023 22:21

I’ve seen they make a Valerian syrup that can be used for daytime anxiety

No, but the non herbal ones work for me (unless I'm very stressed)

TrentCrimm · 20/01/2023 22:51

Nope. I need the hard stuff.

Sucessinthenewyear · 20/01/2023 22:54

Used to for me. I can’t take them as I need to be able to wake for the kids. I would take one and read and 20 mins later I would be falling asleep.

MyBloodyMaryneedsmoreTabasco · 20/01/2023 22:54

Not sure if it's the same ones but DD takes the lavender ones. She finds the lavender burps a bit irritating. For the first couple of weeks they help her sleep, but not stay asleep. After a couple of weeks they tend to wear off, do she has a month or so off them before restarting.

My DH has been having difficulty sleeping for a while and is not able to take the regular Nitol due to medication he takes.
Was recommended Herbal Nitol by the pharmacist- totally hopeless!

garlicandsapphires · 20/01/2023 23:08

They work for me.

Pringlepopping · 20/01/2023 23:22

You may not be imagining it that they make you worse. A small proportion of people have a paradoxical reaction to valerian - instead of making them relaxed and sleepy it acts as a stimulant and has them bouncing off the ceiling.

Ask me how I know this 🙂

Theskyoutsideisblue · 21/01/2023 02:08

Obviously not😁

Gilead · 21/01/2023 03:58

Does absolutely nothing for me.

Arcadia · 21/01/2023 09:29

Valerian gives me nightmares. The normal Nytol works for me and is not that strong. Same with sominex (which is the stuff from night nurse).
