Feel guilty stopping breastfeeding

I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding my 14 month old and recently cut down to just one feed a day. I’m thinking about stopping as I feel I’ve had enough but at the same time I feel immensely guilty about doing so. I’m totally torn. Any advice about weaning toddlers?

It's tough! But try not to feel guilty - you have done brilliantly to get this far. You could try doing 'don't offer, don't refuse' - so only feed them if they ask for it. I did that until we dwindled down to just a single feed in the morning. Then there were a few mornings without asking. Then there was quite a few consecutive mornings without asking.... so after a few days where they were clearly fine without it, the next time they asked I just said it was all gone. I think they only asked once more and that was it - easy! But they were 2 😨

You’ve done really well to last this long, you’ll have to stop at some point and doing it now will be much gentler on DC than if you waited until they were 2/3/4 - they’ll forget about it a lot more quickly, and they’re probably working on exciting new skills which will distract them. I stopped at 8 months simply because I was done 🤷🏼‍♀️
