Are The Sun holidays worth it?

Im thinking of collecting the vouchers this year but I've not been on one and I don't personally know anyone who has.

Are they worth collecting and is there anything I should be aware of before booking?

TIA

You'd be selling your soul to the devil buying that rag.....

@SouperNoodle

That's literally the point...

I read on here that you should avoid anywhere in Liverpool and I'd never thought about it before but makes sense!

It's unclear what you mean with this comment, but I'll take it as avoid reading that paper anywhere in Liverpool, and I would agree as it would be quite likely you'd be informed by somebody that Liverpool is a S*n free city and advised to find a bin.

I wouldn’t buy the Sun, but I had a few holidays from the local paper using the same scheme when the DC were primary school age. As pp said, allow extra money for linen, electricity, etc and don’t expect too much. If going early 8n the year, ask for extra blankets on arrival.

It helped that we didn’t have to travel too far but we had a great time. Sea, countryside, lots to look at, child-friendly entertainment evenings, pool. Way easier than camping.

I’m easily pleased though, loved Liverpool and my next trip is to Weston Super Mare.

There are plenty of groups on Facebook and websites that charge the codes for free so you don't need to buy that rag.

Before you book though, price up directly with the holiday company. Once they add all the entertainment passes etc it can sometimes work out cheaper to book direct.

We've done them for years - never had a bad caravan. Quite often, people on the same site have paid full price for their caravan.
We don't go into the clubs or anything but use it as a base to explore.
The last 3 caravans we have had have been brand new, and we've had to take the cellophane from the toilet, cooker etc.

I've not worded it well.

Absolutely no shade on Liverpool meant or intended.

Lurkinginthemnshadows · 21/01/2023 11:44

Sorry if this has been said already but I've found they give you the worn out and crap accommodation. We noticed a pattern and won't do it anymore. Maybe we had bad luck? We have paid direct with holiday company prior to trying through the sun. Direct was always tonnes better (not even that much more expensive). I hate the sun but we just wanted to try it, wish we hadn't bothered.

We did the similar offer from a local paper and yes, they do give you the most basic accommodation but you can pay more and upgrade. In some places it’s fine, in some places they can be quite old caravans.

Always found these breaks to be good. UK holidays can be really expensive nowadays so it’s a cheap way to spend a few days somewhere different. The Haven parks seem to be the best and give you the biggest savings compared to booking direct. Can’t say I’ve ever been bothered by gangs of Sun readers. There’s usually quite a mix of people at the parks.

I have had a wonderful time

Happy to give recommendations if you are south

Google sun online and you see the codes there

Nootkah · 22/01/2023 13:27

I've been on several European breaks with this promotion (the accommodation is through Eurocamp). Great value. You dont need to buy the paper, all codes are easily available online and Facebook.

Youngdad90 · 17/02/2024 18:14

Is the flights included?

Nootkah · 17/02/2024 19:17

@Youngdad90

No, travel is not included, although there are discounts on ferries.
