Employer paying for training

My employer is paying for a training course, they're big on offering training so I asked them if I could do it. The skills I'll learn are part of my job anyway, I'll just a formal qualification. Wouldn't spend my own money on it, its a lot of cash.

If your employer pays for training do you get to do all that training in your work time or do you have to do it in your own time? I haven't got the paperwork yet, its going through head office, not sure what to expect or whether I want to do anything in my own time.

I've been allowed time off for face to face days and exams but all the independant study was in my own time.

I had to do all study and coursework in my own time when I did a funded course but it was clear from the outset that it would be the case. Its worth asking so that you're clear.

I had a baby and a fairly long commute at the time so I found it difficult to fit in. My boss did let me take half a day off for the final exam however.
