Date: Fab restaurant but tables at a bar or communal table?

This is my third date with Mr Beard (those on dating thread may remember me...). It's my birthday on Sunday and ivd had some good news this week. He wants to take me out tomorrow, I need to make the booking he's working right now. It's a fab restaurant, but there are only communal table seats or bar seats in the window... I think communal is thd better option because we'll be facing each other. Bar will be side by side and high stools...
it's a date, I'm not sure about how much chemistry, what would you choose? Bar or communal table?

Different restaurant

Nooo, it's fab food, we are both foodies.

Communal table.

In reality you're no closer to other people than in most restaurants where too many tables are squeezed together to maximise covers.

My other choice would come in at around £250 for two... it's too much on a third date where he wants to pay in a third date.

Do they also have better seats that are all reserved? If so, I'd save it for another time when you can get those. But then I'm fussy about seating.

Mxflamingnoravera · 19/01/2023 19:15

Yes, I think I agree, communal it is :) thanks 🙏

Bar seats. I quite like sitting side by side as there's no pressure to keep up eye contact. It's easier to get closer if you want to as well.

Bar seats! Agree with the poster above

I'd go for the bar seats for sure. A communal table could be awful, but i guess it depends if you want to go for a more intimate vibe or soak up atmosphere of the restaurant more.

I hate communal tables, I'd avoid restaurants that only had them. So for me it would be bar.

ChristmasTensions · 19/01/2023 19:53

God bar seats every time.

The communal table was great, there was a distance the equivalent of a full table between us and the other group. It was a lovely dinner and a lovely evening. Thanks all for your input.
