Acute PMS help

Hi ladies, I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can get relief from very, very acute premenstrual stress!

I feel absolutely dreadful, actually crippled with it. I am lethargic, I have a migraine, and I have got worries circling in my head to the point it's making me suicidal. I can't calm down whatsoever.

I have tried going for walks with podcasts on, doing workouts etc. It gives me very slight relief then as soon as I stop the sickening PMS feelings are back. I have been like this before but this is a particularly bad one.

My period is still four days away, I know this will all pass as soon as it's here, but till then I don't know how much more I can take.

Is there anything that would help?

Hi have you investigated PMDD? Even if you don't have it, some of the home treatments and supplements might benefit you. There was a really useful thread on here a couple of years ago and a PMDD society if you Google. It's a bit like PMS but it has some other elements.

Thank you, that's really useful. I will look up that thread.

I used to get really bad PMT years ago. I was out of control and ended up really scaring myself one night. I had acupuncture and it was amazing. I had a really bad painful period the following month but the PMT really calmed down.

@Peridot1 that's the thing it's not taken seriously and you have to apply so much effort to help yourself. I mean I know that's the truth about health but I do think we should have much more acknowledgement of what is helpful.

Sorry I meant to say that getting acupuncture might seem extreme to some but if you are having such difficult symptoms it really isn't!

I've taken paracetamol and a lavender oil capsule now, hope it helps me to calm down.

Acupuncture is all about rebalancing things that are out of balance in a way. I know some people think it’s a load of nonsense but I had had success with it previously for allergies so knew it worked for certain things.

When I had it for PMT I was living in Vietnam and knew an American lady who was training in acupuncture and I went to her. Living overseas you see alternatives to our western mainstream medicine and how they can help in certain situations.
