You know you're menopausal when...

...instead of eyerolling quietly at your adjoining neighbour singing showtunes at 6.30am, you stick 'Firestarter' on the Echo dot at full volume and hold it up against the wall.

Not my finest or most adult moment...but it worked! In my defence the singing happens pretty much every weekday, sometimes before 6am.

What have you done on the spur of the moment as a result of the mid life 'don't give a fucks' kicking in?!

Nothing is coming to mind right now but I can't say I blame you for your actions. It seems fair.

MintyCedric · 18/01/2023 08:55

@lifeinthehills honestly they're not terrible neighbours but they don't seem to realise they're living in a terrace (and we were fortunate to have a very quiet neighbour before).

I LMAO immediately after doing it, then wondered if I was perhaps being a bit of a prick. Hope I don't bump into her any time soon!

I guess ideally you'd have had a friendly chat with her first but it's done now and message received.

I do relate to the just not having any f*cks to give. That's quite liberating in a way.

As a neurodiverse person I always found it hard to say no to things, particularly in a work capacity. Now I'm able to say "sorry, I don't have capacity" and other such things without my previous overthinking. (Aware this probably isn't too big a deal to many, but it always was to me). Liberating.

Also blasted "Hocus Pocus" by Focus loudly (good choice, OH 😏) at NDN's house when I knew they were having a weekday lie-in. Their furlough day drinking and weekday parties soon stopped, and he moved out. Thankfully her current bloke is a lot quieter!

lifeinthehills · 18/01/2023 09:06

Oh, I thought of one. Recently the neighbour's kids' ball came over the fence. They're young teens. I think they came to knock on the door while I was in the shower, because I heard the dog bark. A little later I found the ball in the back yard. I felt like some quiet for a bit so waited an hour to toss it back. Does that count?

MintyCedric · 18/01/2023 10:07

Haha...yeah I think they both count!

Having an epic meltdown when my boss wanted to change my weekend off.
She asked me if I had considered taking HRT 😂😂

I adore this

MintyCedric · 18/01/2023 18:37

Thansk @Chevyimpala67 😆

Tbh I collapsed in fits of giggles afterwards, then thought oh shit...I've still got to live next door to the woman.

Her DP works in the canteen at my DDs college...I'll have to tell her to look out for laxatives in her bacon butty by way of revenge!!

😯 taking her life into her hands there.

A few weeks ago, in the midst of a work texting frenzy, I (yet again) caught and ripped my top on the hideous under stairs cupboard handle of our new house. Wasn't going to be bested by that fucker, so full on, primal rage, ripped it off the door. Honestly, DH's face was one of being genuinely impressed. I have no idea how I did it - I was just so angry!! I'm not even known for being very emotional as a person!

Called the doctor about HRT that same week, just waiting for referral post-blood tests 😆

MintyCedric · 19/01/2023 11:59

@RaiseTheStakesAndMakeTheLastWordDuckhead

Blood test? Blimey?

I just had a chat with the HRT nurse at my surgery and they sent a prescription.
