Haven Southport - booked before reading reviews

[Oopsies]

Booked a cheap getaway for Easter to Have Southport. Stupidity didn't read the reviews before hand -big mistake. Can anyone reassure me that it is not as bad as it sounds!

Is it haven o r pontins?
I didn't think.There was a haven a Southport ?
If it's pontins,it will be very basic ,I have been a coup!e of times ,we didn't have any trouble but I heard there can be .

Even if where you are staying is grim, the Southport area is lovely - the coast at Formby is spectacular. Pinewoods, sand dunes, beach - can't beat it! Southport itself is OK as seaside towns go, and there is plenty to do there.

To echo other posters, are you sure it's not pontins?

Friend of mine stayed there and her chalet was full of pigeons. The kids loved it but she didn't.

Yeah Pontins Southport is grim ha but Southport itself is sound, plenty to do and Ainsdale close by has beautiful pine woods and beaches, much quieter than Formby

Pontins is a grade A shithole. We stayed in it for a few nights out of season a few years ago as a convenient base to visit friends in nearby Liverpool and Formby. It is dirt cheap for a reason. Bring your own bedding, towels, a bleach spray, and anything else you need to make your stay even vaguely pleasant. It was dirty, the staff clearly hated the place more than the guests and everything smells of fags. The surrounding area is fabulous though - the Iron Men in Crosby, Formby beach, a decent Pizza Express (I think) in Southport, and of course Liverpool is a fantastic city. I wouldn’t stay in Pontins again if you paid me in diamonds.

It isn't the best place admittedit ly but you will.be right on the beach and as others said there's stuff to.do.in the area ,you could use it as a base?
.we have stayed there and pontins in prestatyn,when we were skint and wanted to take the kids s on holiday ,im.not going to.lie ,the place leaves a lot to.be desired ,but we just. got on with it and made the best of it .

I have stayed there with my children. The chalet was fine but very basic, our neighbours were very noisy and partied all night (take earplugs). However the activity staff were lovely and my two really enjoyed the snorkeling, climbing, abseiling etc.
Use it as a base, there's Martin mere, beaches, Southport, Formby all nearby. Take cleaning materials just in case and don't expect too much.

They had the army staying there doing the covid stuff. A lot of reviews about how war zones were more luxurious than there.
