Hello

Pls need your take on this

I’m currently working full time “let’s say project manager” in a top charity org. I’m looking at contracting on the side as a ltd company in a similar kind of role to meet up with this COL crisis.

People I know doing this have had to lie about their last role and put another company where they can easily get a reference so they don’t need to put their current place of work and their role doesn’t get affected

I’m not really comfortable doing this . So want to ask if putting my current role as my current place of work would be ok?

The agency would only ask for reference and my company would only say I’m working there from 2020 - present. It’s not like my company is going to ask the agency if I’m now employed with them

Nb : this won’t go under my income tax pay as I would be paid through my company so the payroll dept won’t be aware. I’m allowed to take a second job as long as it doesn’t cause a conflict of interest

Just asking this here to check if there are some other things I’m not thinking through properly

Thanks a lot

If your current employer is ok with you having a second job, there’s no reason for lying. Do you already have a contract lined up? The main issue will be your availability, since you already have a full time job. You have to be clear with both parties when you’ll be available for meetings etc otherwise it will go wrong very quickly. Are you intending to take a contract part time?
Can you guarantee your contract will be outside IR35?

@Xanorra yes the only contracts I'm looking for will be outside ir35 so won't look for anything other than that

I don't mind part time contracting but that's so difficult to come by .

I should be able to juggle the meetings so there is no clash cos I do not tend to have Loads of meetings with my current role which gives me some time to be flexible with another job
