"Make a life for yourself"

Just read that as an advice on one of the posts and it got me thinking.

What would that mean for you? And how would you go about it?

My life is ok, but I'm increasingly isolated. I'm a parent and being a good one seems to be my only drive at the moment. I'm at a stage where I do not know what I want for myself, feel people are hard work/ letting me down, and very few things I find really worthwhile.

Do you know what you really want/ dream of?
Have you made a good life for yourself?

Well I have always tried any hobby or leisure activity I want to but I do understand this can involve some expenditure and also time. I tried adult ballet classes, I had learned the basics as a child, it just wasn’t for me. I then tried belly dancing which I really liked and did that for two years.

My life has been exceptionally challenging as I had a child die a few years ago and had a breakdown. So I gave up work to focus on our other child and had a lot of therapy. I now spend my days hiking in the countryside and doing voluntary work for homeless people and people with MH issues. But I had to have the money to do that and I have a very supportive DH who continues to work. We were also at that exact moment in time very well off financially and continue to still be fine financially though I did work out what I have lost in earnings so far and it’s rather a lot.

I was always a glass half full type, one of my friends said I was the strongest person they have ever met. I managed to suck up adversity well but her death was a step too far even for resilient me.

I read how to do everything and be happy by Peter Jones. Now I have a life for myself.

I read how to do everything and be happy by Peter Jones. Now I have a life for myself.

I've borrowed this book a few times on my BorrowBox but never listened to it. I will put it on now!

I have to say, I have been reading motivational books since late twenties. I feel inspired for a bit but then nothing really changes.

I'll give that book a go too though. Thanks.
