Terrible migraine so not the best time to start this.
Trying to renew my expired passport, it’s saying about a digital photo, get a code from a photo booth? I just can’t follow it.
Please can someone tell me what to do, might need words of one syllable with this head. Thanks

You can take it on a camera phone yourself according to the criteria, or go to a booth/photographer, they give you a code and it uploads the photo to the passport site digitally, rather than manually sending it off in the post.

It's easier than it sounds.

Go to a Photo Booth as normal. They now have the option to get photos with a code. They print out like normal photos but with a code at the top.

You can use the photos with a paper renewal form. Or you can apply online and just put the code in

Hope that helps I was aiming for clear but it may have come across as grumpy!!

I went to Timpson. He took our photo’s and uploaded them for approval. When applying I just entered the code and it asked ‘do you want use this photo?’ Sent off application last Monday and got passport on Friday.

I just took a photo with my phone and uploaded it.

I also took a picture with just my phone, there are great passport size photo makers like passport-photo-software.com/ that will crop the picture according to the standards for particular document, and you'll be fine.

Just renewed dd's passport. I took the photo with my phone against a white wall. I then uploaded it and the software embedded in the passport application website resized AND cropped it for me. I didn't need to use 3rd party software like in past years. It couldn't have been easier.

I got a photo taken in SnappySnaps which cost about £10. They then send you a code by email and when you type in that code on the passport application website, the image is uploaded automatically.

I did it this way because I needed a new one as quickly as possible and there was no risk of any delays if a photo taken by me didn't fit the Passport Office rules.

Got my dd new passport yesterday, took pic myself following the instructions, when you upload it you get an instant opinion from the website on its suitability, very good service. Took less than 10 days start to finish

TrashyPanda · 20/01/2023 10:43

Just had a text to say new passport will be delivered today.
so three working days to process application.
