Enough for a 10 year old?

If you can see the picture no need to link to the DM story... Mum complains that this is all the school gives her 10 year old son in his school lunch. She's taken him home before lunchtime, but they kindly gave his lunch to take with them. I see meat slices poking out from underneath, a couple of roasties and veg, and it's stated that there was also a pudding. Looks fine to me. Better than many school meals.

That looks fine to me

It's much more than the meals DS gets in high school where there is not a vegetable in sight! I'd be happy if he was getting that, especially with a pudding.

Looks nice. I’d be happy with that for me, pudding as well would be a bonus.

Meat, two types of veg and a couple of potatoes... My 9yo had this for dinner yesterday so its perfectly fine to me.

I must say I was quite surprised by how tiny the portions were when I saw a photo of my child's school at lunch time and they only ever have fruit for pudding but they have never complained. That portion in the photo is honestly about 3 times bigger.

That's plenty of food.

I'd be delighted if my 11yo ate that much at a sitting. Looks fine to me

Oh good, I'm not going mad then :-) The school is in Wales and I must admit that my first reaction was that they seem to have higher standards than in England. The mother is outraged and thinks it's not enough to sustain her 10 year old.

That would be plenty for me for lunch, and it looks really quite good as well! Plenty for a 10yr old and a well balanced, healthy meal in my view.

Looks fine given they usually provide a dessert and have a salad bar too. And it's lunch. It's not the only meal of the day.

Ninjapot · 16/01/2023 18:50

They said that a pudding was also provided.

They were trying to do the woman a favour, they didn't have to send his lunch home with him.
