So I got engaged 5th feb last year on my 30th birthday been with my partner 9 years this year. Booked to get married 21st June 2025.
So far we have worked out the cost to just over £25500 😩 with 2 kids it's feeling like an impossible task.. help please Any tips or advice on what needs to be done? And What I can avoid... all to help keep cost down. 💕

As you have children already why do you need to spend that sort of money on a wedding?

Why not elope? Or go to the registry office?

IDontCareMatthew · 16/01/2023 00:09

Sorry but that amount of money is ridiculous

You do realise most people only attend weddings because they feel obliged to? The cost and hassle is resented

Don't put people through that

Think what is really important to you.

For us it was a lovely venue, a good photographer (only for photos of us, not the whole day and not tons of group ones) and the meal. It meant we had less guests, just the ones we actually saw on a regular basis instead of all kind of relatives who we never speak to or colleagues I may like to go for a pint with after work but hardly know them outside work. We had 35 for the whole day with a Cream Tea after the ceremony and a sit down meal at 7pm.

I couldn't care less of a bridal party, we had our witnesses that's all. I also looked for a venue where we liked the room and decor already, no need for bringing and paying for tons of stuff never to be used again.

What are you planning that costs so much? Easy way to save money is just to go to a registry office

That's so much money! Cut down seriously!

Our wedding cost £2.5k. I had an amazing dress which was professionally altered, a hair stylist, flower girls, a page boy and an excellent photographer who'd photographed weddings for 25 years. We had a registry office ceremony and lovely meal at a restaurant with plenty of great food and drinks for all. We stayed in an amazing hotel. It was a wonderful day.

From looking at the pics you wouldn't know if we'd spent 2k or 20k.
