Getting so fed up with the miserable weather, news, state of the country etc.

Can anyone suggest online stuff that will be cheering?

Have watched Bob Mortimer's best bits on WILTY recently which was lovely.

Google 'when scared people turn into velociraptors'.

You will not be disappointed (and thank you for the Bob Mortimer tip!).

Upwiththisiwillnotput · 16/01/2023 22:32

Detectorists. Binge the whole thing, you will not be sorry.

MyOldCaravan · 20/01/2023 09:11

@Upwiththisiwillnotput I'm already a big fan! Even saw Lances's flat on a visit to Framlingham!

I've really been enjoying the ice with the sun this week!

Best tip - find a gym with a pool and hot tub/sauna. They're not all expensive. You feel like you're having a proper treat.

Get an audio book rather than something you're looking at a screen for.

I game online, various games, I won two games of Fortnite last night not bad for a close to 60 year old. I always have a little internal chuckle at the kids who have no idea they have just been beaten by someone who could be their Granny.

I hike a lot, I did 3 walks last week, about 25 miles. Two hiking groups, with one group we got absolutely covered in mud which was a laugh, met someone alpacas and stood on a high hill. DH and I got soaked on the other one. I enjoyed smashing ice on puddles.

Stand under a tree and look up through the branches, I love doing that.

Listen to lots of music and experiment in the kitchen.

The Goes Wrong show on BBC iplayer

GlassBunion · 20/01/2023 12:27

I second The Detectorists.

Also Jam and Jerusalem.

Shekissedagirlandshelikedit · 20/01/2023 12:37

Bob Mortimers Train Guy is superb. He's a legend.

Have a look at outtakes of your favourite shows. I recommended 'Car Share' outtakes to start you off

Listen to Greatest Hits Radio.

You tube funny videos of cats/dogs/people falling over.

I do wordle, xordle and plusword daily and always wake up excited go do them (shows how boring my life is 😀 )

Zorya · 20/01/2023 12:37

Love this thread.

I’m mourning finishing The Detectorists. Might have to just watch it again straight away! Any other similar recommendations? Love Jam and Jerusalem too.
Also on the hunt for similar podcasts/audiobooks.

A hot drink always makes me feel better. Especially outside. I’ve downloaded the ‘1000 hrs outside’ app to try to kick my kids’ screen time addictions.

Also, planning to grow things, buying seeds etc makes me happy.

This is only short but it's very random and it made me smile:

StopGrowingPlease · 20/01/2023 16:15

Are you too old for Bluey? 😅

Londono · 20/01/2023 16:26

I've been trying to get out more for walks, ideally during the day but not exclusively and I've been using the time to ring friends. That gives me a lovely boost at a time when most of my communication with them is via WhatsApp between meet ups.

Sweetnsourtoday · 20/01/2023 16:35

@OfcourseSpringRoll another fellow looking up through the trees, here. I like the views from hilltops out in the countryside aswell, very liberating.

I like to search "gym fails" on YouTube.

I had a laugh looking at funny pics of croc shoes.

I once listed to a fart song on you tube (my son to thank for that one). Was funnier than anticipated.

I like a light hearted thread.

**fellow as in standing alongside not being a bloke.

SingingSands · 20/01/2023 18:05

I've watched all of "All Creatures Great and Small" on Channel 5.

Lovely, gentle television with beautiful Yorkshire scenery and some really touching scenes.

I loved the original series as a kid (and the books) and I'm loving the updated series, it's so well done.
