Why is my Royal Mail parcel heading away from my city?

I got a note from Royal Mail yesterday saying my parcel was due to be delivered today.

The company dispatched it last Wednesday. It arrived at Yorkshire Parcel Hub yesterday and then to Leeds a few hours later. Today it’s been received at the North West super hub in Warrington. Is this some weird but normal journey or has something gone wrong?

I had this happen once. The senders ink was obviously running low and a letter in my postcode had printed incorrectly (was half missing) causing the RM sorting office to send it to the other side of the county because of the automated system.
I finally got it after a couple of weeks. A human had intervened at some point and handwritten my postcode on properly so it made it to me.

I haven’t heard of any flooding locally. I’m glad you got your parcel in the end. It seems weird that it got to the right city and then got sent miles in the wrong direction instead of to the local centre.

Sounds like it’s been sent to the wrong hub. I’ve had it happen a couple of times with Royalmail.
I’m in Yorkshire, once it went to Newcastle and the other time my parcel went via Bristol.

I’ve had that happen on a couple of occasions.
Once it arrived at my local delivery office on the day of delivery and was then rerouted to a delivery office 15 miles away before being sent back to the main hub in our area, which then sent it back to my local delivery office. It arrived two days after it should’ve been delivered.
