Oh and Emily in Paris bien sur!

30not13 · 15/01/2023 20:07

God's favourite idiot. No I don't recommend it, we are giving up after 2 episodes.

13 reasons why. I've got fond of a few of the characters, but I'm on season three now, and it's beginning to drag. Not one, I'd suggest, to watch with impressionable teens as it includes rape and suicide of high school age people.

abvgd · 15/01/2023 20:12

Emily in Paris - total catnip!

The beauty queen of Jerusalem - a fascinating saga about Sephardic Jews in the first half of XX century. Feels like an indie film. If you liked Schtisel you will enjoy it too I think

Shitfather · 15/01/2023 20:12

Emily in Paris is great!
Mo - absolutely loved this. It’s a comedy about a Palestinian family in Houston fighting to be legally recognised. Funny, touching, warm.

1899 is amazing. You have to bear with it through the slow first two episodes

I've just finished season 3 and I agree, it really started dragging, plus it wasn't as well written as the first two seasons in my opinion. DD has watched all 4 seasons and declared the last one to be crap so I think I'll give it a miss!

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 15/01/2023 20:27

I binged Ginny and Georgia last week and really enjoyed it. Now hoping it has a third series.

Lottapianos · 15/01/2023 20:29

Rewatching Schitts Creek - adore it, such brilliant characters 😁

Finished 'The Lying Life of Adults' last week - interesting story, great performances, enjoyed it

stockpilingallthecheese · 15/01/2023 20:29

Just finished Emily in Paris, excellent trash. Now watching Break Point which is basically drive to survive for tennis!

Handsnotwands · 15/01/2023 20:42

Love life - easy and passes the time
dark - totally brilliant but complicated especially as much better in the original German with subtitles

Wildernesstips · 15/01/2023 21:24

Kleo - it’s a brilliant German series set in the 80s in Berlin. Has a vibe of Killing Eve about it.

Millionaireshortbread0 · 15/01/2023 21:43

Wednesday was great.
Just watching the watcher (halfway through) very good so far.

PritiPatelsMaker · 15/01/2023 21:45

Emily in Paris and Wednesday.

Last night we watched Romesh.

JustWhattheDoctorOrdered · 15/01/2023 21:57

I watched the Hatchet Wielding Hitchiker last night. Someone on MN recommended, I can’t remember who. Not only would I not recommend it, I would actively dissuade anyone from watching it. It’s utterly distasteful and I hope it doesn’t get good viewing figures (though I know it will in the US).

No spoilers. It’s about a man who became a ‘viral sensation’ a few years ago because he stopped the man who he had hitched a lift with from harming a woman (he had also driven into another man in a racist attack). He did this by attacking him violently with a machete. When interviewed he said proudly he had launched at the man and gone SMASH, SMASH, SMASH with a machete. He became a hero. Prime time chat show hosts interviewed him, plans were made to base a reality TV show on him and everywhere he went people wanted to have their picture taken with him.

I couldn’t get over the fact that a young man who shouted gleefully that he had attacked someone with a machete became a hero. I found it vile and uncivilised. To many Americans he seemed to represent some kind of admirable vigilantism. I really don’t think (I hope not anyway) that most Europeans would have reacted in the same way.

We liked it but anyone starting 1899 needs to know that Netflix are not renewing for season two!

Weve just watched season two of Alice in Borderlands. It’s Japanese sci fi/drama kind of but we have no issues watching subtitles and love the premise.

Also just watched the Hitchhiker documentary, if you like Netflix true Crime series it’s very true to that genre but just one episode instead of a dragged out series.

ThatshallotBaby · 15/01/2023 22:06

I wish I could line Emily in Paris but it just annoys me, which annoys me. I watched a series about Mormons which was good.

NatalieH2220 · 15/01/2023 22:07

Love life-yes for an easy watch
Kaleidoscope- also yes!

NooNakedJacuzziness · 15/01/2023 22:12

Wild Wild Country is brilliant - documentary about an utterly bonkers cult in small town America

Namechange72638 · 15/01/2023 23:01

The spy is great with Sasha baron cohen

YourTruthorMine · 15/01/2023 23:44

Devil in Ohio - for fans of supernatural thrillers, really enjoying this one

Bedofroses85 · 16/01/2023 00:00

Dead to me was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed it although very far fetched and it dragged a bit at the end. Good watch though!
