Expanding to a family of 5 - which car?

Hi Mumsnet, which cars would you recommend when the third child is on the way? At the moment we have a small SUV which we bought in 2018, just before baby 1 arrived but we seem to be outgrowing this car. We loved it and it's served us well. Baby no 3 will arrive in September so still have time but would be good to have a new car by the summer.

Citroen C4 grand spacetourer. If you get one post-2018 I think it will have 3 full sized seats all with isofix points in the middle row, and an extra 2 seats in the back row which can be folded down to give you a really big boot. A ford s-max would tick the same boxes, but there are far fewer available second hand, and they are a little more expensive.

@pbdr thank you! Sounds good to have a starting point. The car we have now was a "show car" so half a year old but then got 6k off which worked well at the time. I'm hoping to get something similar x

We find having a 7 seater much better as they've gotten older as it reduces the back seat bickering

We really loved our Ford SMax. We have a Galaxy now, which is okay.

We have a Peugeot 5008 (2014) and I love it

Peugeot 5008 is very similar to what was suggested above.

Any of that type of car - 3 proper seats in the back and 2 extras that fold down in the boot are great. You get a massive boot, but as the kids get older you have space for friends too.

Most car brands offer something similar now.

we are on our third vauxhaul zafira.
Good workhorse of a car. Plenty of psace (7 seater with all seats up) but all seats comfy and.

One reason we chose this was because it isn't too big on the outside, so makes for easier parking.

We have a Ford s max, fits 3 car seats iso fix across back seat and two further seats that fold up in boot if needed, for when they invite friends home etc.

@Blankscreen would LOVE it but ££££££ 😩
