I don’t know any recent music. I never really kept up with pop or rock. Can you suggest a couples of tracks maybe the last 5 years. Thanks.

There is no should in music

Turn on the radio , shuffle on line till you hear something you like

A little detail about stuff you like might help

Classical , rap musicals folk pop rock dance .....

As you have an internet device you also have access to the whole of BBC radio …

For mainstream pop music go to BBC Sounds and turn on Radio 1. (Yes, the presenters are mostly inane - zone them out and just listen to the music.)

For contemporary ‘classical’ music (things composed in the 20th / 21st century) try the New Music Show on Radio 3, 10pm on Saturdays.

Thanks great idea - maybe should have expressed tracks that posters really enjoy

What other people enjoy is irrelevant. You have to do your listening for yourself.

Yes it is. I might hate love or be indifferent There is a massive world of music out there so it’s hard to find my way around- I was just asking for some suggestions. I’ll try the radio.

What things do you already listen to OP? I think you're getting an unnecessary hard time here!

My tastes are a bit run of the mill so you probably already know them.

Play a song you like on Spotify and see what other songs the algorithm then throws up.

If you want a Saturday night kitchen disco type song, well then this little number is an absolute banger

EmmaEmerald · 14/01/2023 10:59

Taylor Swift is on my list every day

To suggest two others

Florence & The Machine

The 1975

Time40 · 14/01/2023 11:06

Yes, definitely Florence and Taylor.

Try last year's breakout band, Wet Leg - they're absolutely brilliant.

WinterFoxes · 14/01/2023 11:07

Michael Kiwanuka. Anyone who likes good music will just LOVE him. Gorgeous soulful but upbeat.

Hope this links

New music I have listened to recently-The Struts. They aren’t new as such but they have a great old fashioned flamboyant front man and great songs.
Look up ‘Could have been me’ on You Tube.

If you like a more folk vibe Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler released a beautiful album called For All Our Days That Tear The Heart.
