Blackcurrant Lemsip

I know there have been shortages of Lemsip, but where has blackcurrant (undisputed king of Lemsips) gone? Has it disappeared forever?

It's been missing in action for months. Even own brands!

AnnaMagnani · 14/01/2023 09:26

Just have some paracetamol and a hot Ribena. Job done.

RenoDakota · 14/01/2023 09:26

Oh yes! I trawled around all over the place trying to find it between Christmas and New Year when my daughter was ill. She only likes that one.
Drew a big fat blank.

Ewww. Lemsip of any variety is 🤮
I second the paracetamol.

ShadowPuppets · 14/01/2023 09:28

I was trying to get some before Christmas and couldn’t track it down anywhere. Eventually got some of the lemon one but it was a shame, the blackcurrant one is so much nicer.

Sparklingbrook · 14/01/2023 09:32

I think there’s a shortage of cold and flu stuff generally but I don’t know why.
I’d check the ingredients and see if you can get them in other forms.

Rosio · 14/01/2023 09:58

I can usually find blackcurrant beechams in b&m. Never see the blackcurrant lemsip anymore though!

BeyondMyWits · 14/01/2023 10:02

Lemsip powders
Dioralyte
Robitussin
I work in a pharmacy and if we could get any we would...
and those are just the over the counter meds that are "not currently available" with our suppliers.

You're the one buying that muck! It's absolutely grim 🤣

Thesearmsofmine · 14/01/2023 10:04

It has been gone for ages. I like lemsip when I’m feeling ill, I find it kind of comforting.

I agree. It smells and tastes of being ill. 🤢

I wish we could have the proper Night Nurse recipe back that was the best.

ehb102 · 14/01/2023 10:08

Blackcurrant lemsip has completely disappeared. I friend snagged two boxes from Asda before Xmas for my dad and I haven't seen any since.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/01/2023 10:08

Someone stole the blackcurrant Lemsip from my desk at work Shock. I mean we steal stuff from each other all the time, but they must have been desperate because I'm sure it was out of date.

EL8888 · 14/01/2023 10:08

It’s way better than lemon. But l haven’t seen it for a while ☹️

BeyondMyWits · 14/01/2023 10:14

Oh, and day and/or night nurse... out of stock now too.... capsules or liquid.

serenghetti2011 · 14/01/2023 10:17

Not sure why it’s being described as muck, don’t buy or take it then? Some purple do, I can’t take any other decongestant and I don’t like the lemon one at all. Bit of a pain really

Sparklingbrook · 14/01/2023 10:19

Does it actually make any difference though? Any more than hot squash & paracetamol and a decongestant you stick up your nose?

MenopauseSucks · 14/01/2023 10:38

I've got some blackcurrant sachets left but I'm not going to share them...
I'll have to ration them out now with the lemon ones Sad

Cookerhood · 14/01/2023 10:50

Yes if course you could take paracetamol, a decongestant & Ribena, but for some people it is a comfort thing from their childhood (it is for me, anyway). I actually prefer lemon, but DD like the blackcurrant.

GettingStuffed · 14/01/2023 10:52

I bought some on Boxing day from a shop in a garage

I think it’s because Lemsip always came out when I was a child they remind me of being ill. Same as Tunes cough/cold sweets.

luckylavender · 14/01/2023 11:23

Thanks for all your responses, even the rude ones. Glad it's not just me. I find that Lemsip is the most effective way to get rid of a headache & the lemon one is horrid. Paracetamol & Ribena is not the same.
