Has anyone got pregnant after their partner had a vasectomy?

No, this hasn't happened to me! My husband is going for a vasectomy next week. I plan to stay on the pill for 6 months afterwards just to be extra safe, but I've read that the tubes can rarely reconnect even years after the procedure. We really, really do not want any more children, but I was also looking forward to coming off the pill. Am I being too paranoid?

No contraception is 100% effective - only abstinence.

But vasectomy/sterilisation is as good as it gets.

This is why safe, legal abortion is so important.

I believe its reliable but nothing is 100%, not even the pill. Perhaps you could try tracking your fertility so if your worried you could avoid or use condoms on those few days, just to give you extra piece of mind but I really don't think you'd need to.
