So I bought an item from ebay. Vintage, so not replaceable. And, luckily, very cheap so that with postage it's under £5. This thread is, therefore, for for curiosity than anything else.
It was sent using Yodel.
It was "delivered to a safe place - porch"
Yodel have a policy online they take a photo in these circumstances but Yodel however much they are asked ignore my request to see this photo. Because online help are standard responses they basically ignore the question you ask and reply with something else which inevitably ends with tracking says delivered, hard cheese
We never received it
Ebay refuse our claim under the buyers guarantee because the Yodel tracking says delivered
So the issues we have:
We were in that day and received other parcels. Its strange we didn't get this one
We don't have a porch
We do have a front step but that fronts a public road so is not "a safe place"
We.didnt log any safe place with Yodel
They are not sharing any photo evidence of delivery to a safe place
I sort of understand ebays stance as if the only two options to them is to decide if I lose out or the seller, then I guess it's not the sellers fault either? And he cannot replace it as its a one off item and he only made 99p out of me anyway.
But I think ebay should.use their teeth and pressure Yodel to provide evidence. That's all I'm.looking for. If it's shows my house I'll accept it was stolen and won't be bothering the police, but that's my choice.
If Yodel cannot evidence it then they should be the one to refund under whatever the insurance is, surely?
Now, I know this is more theoretical given the cost but last night I found.myself buying from Amazon not ebay because of this, so I can see me ditching ebay soon as I just can't trust them to help at times like this and usually items cost me a lot more than a fiver!
Any thoughts?
