Tell me about label makers!

I'd like a label maker, yes I'm old and boring and I want to label my plugs so I know what is what and I'd also like to label stuff going into the freezer as I use glass and bamboo containers that can't be written on. I guess labels would also have to come off food containers easily. My friend has a dyno one which is good and the brother one looks even better but also the cassettes look expensive but also very versatile, pretty labels and ribbons I'm not sure I'd use much. Do you need to buy seperate ink for these label machines?

Also I see on amazon they have little printers you can connect from your phone but they have mixed reviews.

Anyone have any experience of different label makers? I have christmas money burning a hole in my pocket!

I’ve got an old skool Dymo that embossed. You can get clear, metallic, wood look and funky colours dirt cheap.

Interesting, I was worried they'd stop making the tape for them but I can see how the embossing would still have its uses. Think I'd prefer a flat label though.

I've got a dynamo label maker and it's fantastic. Everything that stands still long enough gets lableled. We tried the older style manual one but it was useless but this one is great:

I think this is a newer version of the one my friend has. Looks nice. How long does the tape last?

I've got a Dymo although I don't use it that often - just label fridge/freezer sockets, remote controls (could never work out which was for tv, soundbar, blu Ray player), box files. It's an occasional toy - much like my laminator - so it doesn't cost me much in replacement cassettes as I don't get through them very quickly.

Used to love my old mini printer. Wish I'd kept it. Can't beat the twist of the dial and a squeeze to print each letter. So much more fun 😁

I’ve got a brother p-touch at home and I use a dymo 160 (I think)) at work. They’re both good but I prefer the dymo, I just find it easier switching between upper and lower case and finding symbols. Once your initial labelling is done you will probably use it a few times a year and the tapes will last ages.

It's 7m long. That's a lot of labels.
