Online order from before the Christmas still on fulfilled

I made an online order on December the 14th. I was thinking maybe I would get it before the Christmas. I got an email to say that I will get the item in January because they are closed now. I ordered from a small business and they closed and went away for the Christmas.

I emailed them last week to see the status of the order and shipping and they said they were away over Christmas and it will be dispatched on Monday and I should have it by Thursday of next week. That's today. There's still no order in the mail. This is ridiculously long now at this stage and it really shouldn't be dragged out any more. I emailed them this morning to require about my order but they didn't respond. My account on their shop says my order is 'on hold'.

How do I go about navigating this? I am interested in the item and I don't want to cancel the order and ask for a refund but if I was to go down that route it might hurry them up at making some progress with dispatch.

I'm just wondering if I should wait for them to respond to my email or if I should start a PayPal resolution.

I opened a case with PayPal. It's disappointing. I was hoping on my order on being delivered. I wasn't looking for a refund but that's the way PayPal is going.

I escalated this order for non delivery and PayPal said they were going to refund me. It's disappointing. I wasn't really looking for a refund. I just wanted my order to be sent. PayPal said I will be getting a refund. Then a few hours after escalating it I got an email to say that I will get my order next week.

What do I do about that? I was waiting for this thing for weeks. I had to escalate the order through PayPal just for them to take any action on a shipping at all.

Sit tight op. Let PayPal do their thing, if they do refund you and the item arrives then you can contact the company to make payment. But given they’ve messed you around so much I think I would be sceptical you’ll even get it now.
If the company contacts you about it you can tell them, you will happily pay for the item once you actually have it.
