Huge scan anxiety - book earlier private scan?

Hi all

I've had 2 MMC's in the last 12 months, and am currently 11 weeks pregnant. My 12 week scan is next week and after having a "no heartbeat" 12 week scan last year, I can't face this again.

My symptoms have dropped hugely in the last few weeks, and I'm terrified about next weeks scan.

I've had a 6&8 week reassurance scan in this pregnancy and all was well.

Should I book a private scan in the next couple of days to mitigate my anxiety (which is getting too much to bear tbh) or should I suck it up and wait til next Thurs? I don't think I could cope with another unsuccessful 12 week scan, though.

Urgh.

Amy advice welcome. TIA.

What would be different about hearing bad news at 11+2 (for example) compared to 12weeks?

I'm so sorry about your previous losses. Although I never experienced a "no heartbeat" scan, I did have two early losses before my son was born. I had loads of reassurance scans. For me I just couldn't cope with the thought of going along like everything was ok when it wasn't.
I would go for the scan. It will put your mind at rest a few days early and hopefully you will be able to enjoy the official 12 week scan a bit more as a result.
I should caveat that I am fortunate enough to have afforded all these scans. I can't imagine what I would have done without them. Good luck 💐

I don't mean to be unkind in any way but I lost mine at 20 weeks. You can't guarantee it just by having an early scan.
Good luck for a successful pregnancy xxx

@Influenza hearing it in the exact same place I heard it before, being ushered out of the prenatal unit the back way, being taken to the same place to cry and shout as I have already been.......

@Daisybuttercup12345 I'm so sorry for your loss and believe me I know that even a 12 week scan doesn't guarantee a baby.

Thank you for your advice - honestly appreciated

@keepaweatheredeye if you can afford it - do it! Why stress and worry so so much if an early scan can help you relax a bit and enjoy the scan at the hospital? I had 3 private scans in my last pregnancy, all in the first trimester, as my anxiety was too much to deal with.
Take care and I keep everything crossed for you Flowers
