Portugal in October

Hi all, I've been looking at lanzarote for October half term this year, but they are either really expensive or reviews are just grim!
Anyone been to Portugal in October, what's it like weather wise, what are the all inclusive packages like out there.
Is it a family friendly place

Isn't lanzarote one of the canary islands administered by spain?

I went once over the October break and the weather was absolutely terrible! I met someone this past October who was just back and had a similar experience. Obviously it's not always terrible weather but it's certainly not as guaranteed as the Canary Islands

Its usually pretty good weather in October, not as hot as August but still shorts and tshirt weather. Algarve is where the beaches are and more touristy. Albufeira is the most touristy place but Alvor has some nice family friendly resorts and is less busy

We went to an apartment in Portugal (Albufeira) in October when the kids were younger and it rained at some point every single day - sometimes quite heavily and it was quite a miserable holiday.
A work colleague went the following year and had brilliant sunshine the whole time!

Well done you.

I would also worry about the weather.
Canary Islands are safer and parts of Lanzarote are nice - try Playa Blanca.
Cyprus is another suggestion. You need to go further south than Portugal in October I feel.

Thanks everyone. I will keep looking at the canaries then xxx

We did October half term in Portugal. I think if you want a warm location it's good. But it's not hot. I was comfortable on the beach in short sleeved T shirt and leggings, but it was too chilly for less.

We enjoyed it as it wasn't too hot and was so quiet. The children wore wetsuits so they were warm enough. It's not hot, but pleasant.
