Just that really. I want an upright that is robust but relatively light to lift. We have a dog and a DD with long hair!

thanks

Cleaner here - I have this Shark:

Shark NZ801UKT

This is the vacuum I use at my home (two dogs, and I have long hair). Bought mine two years ago and still performing perfectly - 5 year warranty gives peace of mind. It’s not super light at 6.5kg, but then light and robust don’t tend to go together … and you would use the lift away function for stairs anyway.

Bagless capacity isn’t huge, but very easy to empty and means no ongoing cost to purchase bags or build up of smells from dog hair etc.

This specific model comes with a pet hair attachment for stairs/upholstery: that’s important, as the floor head can’t be used on anything other than floors.

The anti-hair wrap really does work, but you have to give it a chance to clear the buildup by continuing to vacuum. If there’s multiple people with long hair or you don’t vacuum frequently you might, vey occasionally, need to clear the brush roll manually.

The filters are all washable (important to do to maintain suction). I’ve bought a set of non-branded additional filters which work just as well.

Filter kit

The front soft roller is also washable and easy to pop out.

One drawback: in an ideal world, you’d be able to disable the rotating brush head when vacuuming hard floors. Don’t get me wrong, it does the job but can spit larger particles out sometimes (and if you’ve got rugs with tassels definitely don’t run it over them)!

At £200 with a 5 year warranty I would definitely recommend.

Fab - thank you so much. I have actually gone with that one and am liking it a lot!

Brilliant, great to hear you’re enjoying using it - the headlights - which I didn’t mention previously - really are fab too … especially under furniture!

Make sure you register your vac with Shark for the 5 year warranty, I ended up having to call them as couldn’t do it online, but have always found their customer service really helpful.

Im sire that shark was 180 in asda!

Anotherselfemployedcleaner · 19/01/2023 21:26

@Frumpymumma maybe be an instore deal, but currently £199 online at Asda:

direct.asda.com/george/home/vacuums-steam-mops/shark-anti-hair-wrap-pet-vacuum-cleaner-nz801ukt/050176576,default,pd.html?cgid=D26M10G10C09

There’s a different model at £189.99, but that doesn’t have anti-hair wrap.

Thanks so much for the nudge about the guarantee - I haven’t done that and must.
