Is this normal at nursery?

My son is 23 months so a few weeks off being 2.

He's just changed rooms at nursery and he's really struggling with it. He had some taster sessions in the new room a week or so ago and seemed to enjoy them but now he's in there properly he is really upset every time we go in. Inconsolable, clinging to me, throwing himself on the floor when we get to the door and trying to back away.

Today was especially hard. He seemed very attached to his previous key worker in his last room and I think he's struggling. He keeps running to the door of his old room and wanting to go in there (we have to walk past it to get to his new one!).

Today one of the ladies from his old room just happened to be getting something out of his new one at the time we came in and she managed to settle him as he knows her but I just feel so bad for him 😔

Mine went to a nursery that didn't have separate rooms, so they kept the same key worker all the way through. But yes, this is normal for any change. I found it usually took 2 months or so for things to really settle again.
