I'm in agony

I bent down to pick something up and felt a twinge in my back, it's got worse and I'm in agony. Managed to get into bed but I can't make even the smallest movement without shouting out with the pain. My left arm feels a bit weird too. Ffs I'm never going to get any sleep.

Oh no
Getting older sucks doesn't it!?
Hopefully it'll sort itself out so you can sleep 😴

ADHDPI · 11/01/2023 23:57

Call your GP in the morning? Hope you feel better soon. Back pain is the worst

Ohgodthepain · 12/01/2023 00:01

It's making me feel sick

Might possibly be a slipped disc in the cervical area of your spine, especially if you're getting nerve-type pain in one of your arms.
Do contact your GP tomorrow.

I had similar in my lumbar spine and it damaged my leg permanently. I don't mean to scare you. I just can't help worrying when I hear this kind of experience and hope it can be ruled out.

Ohgodthepain · 12/01/2023 00:05

It's definitely lumbar pain and I don't think it's muscular as it's very central

What's the pain in your arm like?

Ohgodthepain · 12/01/2023 00:11

Heavy and feels very slightly weaker

How can you type if the slightest movement is sending you into throes of agony?

Ohgodthepain · 12/01/2023 00:16

It's painful if I move my body , if I try and lift my hips to turn over, pull my knees up.
You obviously don't believe me though.

There’s always one.

thaegumathteth · 12/01/2023 00:19

Back pain is so awful. Ring your GP in morning or 111 if you have any worrying symptoms such as bowel / bladder issues.

LearnerCook · 12/01/2023 00:23

Excellent advice from @thaegumathteth. Loss of bladder/bowel control could indicate something serious.

Ohgodthepain · 12/01/2023 00:33

I went to the loo before I got into bed so all ok there . Pain is worse if I straighten my legs , so have them drawn up but this gives a slight pain in my left thigh . I had this before, years ago and it went of it's own accord . I'm so cross as all I did was bend down.

Clever 🙄

AlmondBake · 12/01/2023 00:38

Sympathies op. Anyone there who can get you some paracetamol and a hot water bottle?

Ohgodthepain · 12/01/2023 00:39

Im on my own , unfortunately

Hot water bottle and paracetamol?

ZestFest · 12/01/2023 00:44

Sounds like a herniated disc. You need a cocktail of drugs, then gentle movement guided by an osteopath or physio. It's absolutely hellish, you have my sympathy. 😘

ZestFest · 12/01/2023 00:45

Prescribed drugs obviously 😃

Ohgodthepain · 12/01/2023 00:48

I've got some oxypro (prescribed for a shoulder injury) they make me sleepy so might take one but they make me feel groggy the next day too .

Thank you for the sympathy, it really is awful.
