Anyone got a Shakti mat/acupressure mat?

Been eyeing up a Shakti mat for ages but am put off by the price. I've seen similar acupressure mats on amazon for a third of the price. Are Shakti mats really worth the extra money, or is it just a matter of brand name and good marketing?

Totally worth the extra money! I use mine every night - super relaxing, and having the best, and most deep sleeps of my life. At first, I couldn't lie down on it without a tee, and now I fall asleep on it bareback!
My 10-year-old child loves it as well and finds a very calming.
I purchased a different brand, which was slightly smaller as a travel mat, but it's nowhere near as good. Get the mat and pillow combo.

I cannot compare with other brands as I only have a shakti mat, but I love it. I find it really relaxing and it's really helped with back pain. How much would you save buying something cheaper? £10-20? If it's rubbish and then you decide to buy something different, you'll end up spending more money anyway, so might as well just get the real thing.

I have a cheap version and think it's great. I'm the same as theyoungishman, had to wear a t-shirt first, and now can lie on it for hours, no

Oops. As I was saying I can lie on it for hours no problem.

i don't know how much more benefit I would get from the Shakti mat. I can't imagine it's significantly better. I would say though, watch the sizes. Some of the cheaper ones are smaller, and I think bigger, in this instance, is better. You want it to go from your shoulders to your bum.

I don’t have another brand but would absolutely recommend a Shakti mat.

Hmmm, I think I need to persevere, I’ve never got on with mine. I gave up after a couple of months. Will try wearing a T-shirt with it!

I have a cheap one from Amazon I bought as I was intrigued (ombar with mat and shaped pillow).

I have really knotty shoulders and I’m always looking for an at home remedy to help with that so I use it a couple of times a week either the flat mat after yoga in Shavasana or the shaped pillow to get between the shoulder blades when I’m in bed.

The spikes on mine look similar to the level 2 shakti mat.

i would be interested to know the difference between the two mats, the Shakti one does look longer. Perhaps you could order both to compare side by side and return the one that doesn’t look the best? Would be interested to know!

I have the medium shakti mat and it's amazing- goes on every holiday, often use it for insomnia and when my back gets all knotted up. I absolutely love it but haven't tried any other brands.

I have a cheap Amazon version, no idea how big the proper one is but mine covers my back from shoulders to bum and came with a pillow. I find it really good for easing neck tension and it puts me in to an almost meditative state (and I don’t usually go for all that ‘woo’ stuff 😂😂😂)

I think it's also worth noting that the actual shakti mat organisation treat employees incredibly, and isn't some rip off appropriating culture.

Please read the section on why to buy

"We believe everyone that creates The Shakti Mat should be provided with meaningful & fulfilling employment. That’s why we support all Shakti employees in India with a living wage, an emergency medical fund, and investment in the education of their children. When you lie down on your Shakti Mat you can relax knowing our well-being products look after more than just your own."

The problem with cheap knock offs are that typically somebody is being taking advantage of as reflected in the price.

There's also 20% discount available currently with the code REPOSE.

I hope you love it as much as I do (I use the intense one), and as much as the communities it supports.

I've got a proper Shakti mat and I do love using it but quite a few of the plastic bits have come off.

I have a fake one from Lidl - I wanted to make sure I liked it! Obviously used a T-shirt to begin with. I love it, no plans to upgrade
