We live in the Home Counties and are considering moving back into London next year which would be when DD would be due to start secondary school.
For us we want to be back in London and are in a position to buy a house in an area we like. My concern is DD being uprooted out of the only area she's ever known.
We were considering either a move now or wait until she has finished secondary and move into London if/ when she goes to uni. My thoughts were I would like to have a family home she has a connection with for her to "come home to" when she has started uni and if we move now she will build connections and hopefully we will never move again. Also I'm thinking she could well end up working in London and could live with us if she wants to. Everyone has to leave her primary school at 11 so that comes to a natural end however she will want to go to the school most of her now friends go to.
Is it too much if a wrench for children aged 11 to start again in a new area? I'd appreciate anyone who has any experience of this.
