I’m so ready for spring

Just that really
cant wait for warmer weather not even sun just some bright days, walks without a million bits of waterproofs, gloves, etc, baby in and out the snowsuit every five mins, only wearing black docs every day (I want to wear some nice bright white trainers!), the house not being a bit leaky and cold when you come in, drying washing outside… the list goes on. It has seemed like we’ve been in the middle of a dark rainy evening all day here for ages ! even playgroup today was a bloody faff - boots, waterproof, piss wet through getting from the car, baby needed raincover on her car seat, all the kids wet puddle suits and wellies piled up, wet foot prints, the rain pinging off the roof! I’ve tried to be positive and get cosy and light candles but ffs I am Bored now !

Yep. Me too. Winter can truly FO now.

Shampern · 10/01/2023 21:12

I'm hoping Spring will come round quickly this year. It's quite mild now, but the rain is annoying. I'm just eating my way through January and February for comfort.

demotedreally · 10/01/2023 21:28

Yes, why is it so dark???

IDontCareMatthew · 10/01/2023 21:29

My bleeding hearts ( dicentra) is sprouting

Had a look yesterday. Means the start of the gardening season for me

Bluevelvetsofa · 10/01/2023 21:32

Everywhere here is waterlogged. The damp makes everything feel colder.

whytesnow · 10/01/2023 21:34

Me too I hate winter

Roseberry1 · 10/01/2023 21:35

Yes, absolutely! This winter has been darker than ever it seems! Working from home in the cold with no heating other than a heated throw, only seeing daylight at weekends, washing not drying easily as heating barely on, leaking conservatory

Bring on spring... lighter evenings, warmer days, spring bulbs flowering, warmer house, less damp and rain!

BarrelOfOtters · 10/01/2023 21:49

The garden is sodden so I can’t do anything in it, the greenhouse has a drainage problem so it’s got a puddle on the floor. I had covid and felt awful then got a virus over Christmas and new year so hardly been out. It was so dark here this morning and the road outside had flooded…

all this can bugger off now.

Whyjustwhy123 · 10/01/2023 21:51

It’s the dark, every January I forget just how relentless it feels. First winter for 13 years that I’m working full time and I just don’t seem to see daylight!

jojojanner · 10/01/2023 21:53

I Couldn't agree more, I'm not a winter woman.
I miss sunny walks home from school, stopping at the park before playing in the garden until late, seems we're going to school in the dark and coming home and it's the end of the day.
I also miss summer dresses, I'm fed up with jumpers and dressing gowns.

StillMedusa · 10/01/2023 22:06

Couldn't agree more! It's been such a WET winter and as someone who is out in the fields twice a day with my daft dog (who spent 15 mins fruitlessly trying to dog out a mouse or something in an up-to-my-ankles-in water field this morning in the pouring rain...

I just want it to DRY UP!!!!

I don't mind sunny dry cold, but this rain... ugh!

icanneverthinkofnc · 10/01/2023 22:06

I'm looking forward to spring too..planning caravan trips for spring just to give myself something to look forward to.
Even the dog can't be bothered in the morning. If I suggest even going in the garden to do her wee before I leave for work, she glares at me! 🤣

WhereIsMyRollingPin · 10/01/2023 22:10

I bought two cheap bunches of daffodils at the weekend and put them in a vase on the dining table. They somehow improve the whole house with their cheerfulness.

I have snowdrops in the garden and the honeysuckle is sprouting. I don't mind winter but I love to see signs of spring.

Ah that sounds lovely! There's something about daffodils that's so cheery! 😊

roarfeckingroarr · 10/01/2023 22:29

I love spring and will be happy when it's here but it's only been winter for 2 min - November was decidedly autumnal

watchfulwishes · 10/01/2023 22:30

'Luckily' it is early this year because of climate change speeding up Sad

I am truly sad that we have kost the traditional seasons.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 10/01/2023 22:35

@watchfulwishes I was thinking today that it just seems soooo wet. And not even that cold really. I don’t remember it being this wet for this long this time of year. It’s awful and so scary. There seems to be a lot less of the very very cold, crisp blue sky winter days , st least where I live

I'm guessing you're not really asking that question seriously..

Sadly it is the future with climate change, mild, wet, floods, extremes. I keep thinking its good for the reservoirs and wind for the turbines

Passthecake30 · 10/01/2023 22:40

Roll on spring, but can the hayfever stay away please??!!

catsonahottinroof · 10/01/2023 22:43

I don't know, I feel like winter's barely begun! It would be nice to have a cold snap/a bit of snow first. Not for too long because of heating bills etc but temperature wise it feels like spring already.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 10/01/2023 22:45

@catsonahottinroof yes I’m in Lancs and it’s 12 degrees here today and tomorrow apparently! But absolutely relentless pissing it down
