Hand hold - waiting for laser surgery

Hi, went to the optician this morning with quite bad floaters and they diagnosed a torn retina. I've been in eye A&E ever since and I'm just off for the surgery

Literally terrified - I'm very anxious and a single parent so that adds to my anxiety!!! Anyone had this? Positive stories only please - can't along with anymore worrying!!!! Sad

Anyone?

I've had the surgery - I was actually painless!!! Has anyone else had a torn retina?

Hi I’ve just had this done , how are you getting on?

Hi, hope it's gone well for you. To be honest, looking back, it was fairly routine even though it felt major to me at the time. I was flying to the Caribbean 5 weeks later for a long awaited 50th cruise with friends, so I was concerned about that. I wore sunglasses for a while as that made the floaters better

Luckily all was fine and there is no issue with flying after the surgery anyway. I still suffer badly with floaters in that eye, but it was the black veil that made the difference that day

Hope all has gone well with you!

That’s great to hear . Am sorry you had no one to support you during your experience on here as it can be a bit isolating ! Will your floaters disappear or do you just get used to them ? You’re right it seems like such a big deal when this is happening to you and you just want to know things will be ok
