Evri have delivered parcel to wrong house

Evri have delivered my parcel, but it's not at my house. They've sent me photo - it's definitely not my house. I've had a walk round the neighbouring streets, and the door in the photo doesn't look familiar!

What do I do?

Contact the company you have placed the order through and tell them. Your contract is with the sender, not Evri.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/01/2023 12:29

Obviously there is no way of contacting Evri, and this situation is not covered on their FAQs.

This happens most days in my area, our local FB group has become a parcel search and rescue and page.

Do you have a local fb page you can post on?

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 10/01/2023 12:30

But yes if that fails you need to contact the company you offered from, not Evri.

GoldenMalicious · 10/01/2023 12:32

How long ago was this? If very recent (last couple of hours) I would suggest patience. I had similar last year and walked round to find the house with the parcel as per photo outside - it wasn’t my parcel. Mine arrived an hour or so later. No idea what happened although I suspect that as the delivery was late the driver sent any old photo to make it look like it arrived on time.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/01/2023 12:44

I've emailed the originator and posted on our village FB page.

Mine too. Apparently, in some cases the delivery person is sending a photo of the last place they delivered too but not necessarily were they left the parcel the person is waiting for. It’s a a photo of a genuine delivery being used, whether this is a mistake or not is unclear. This is making people think a neighbour has taken the parcel and is keeping it.

Wowwellokthen · 11/01/2023 20:32

I got a message saying...you weren't in when we attempted delivery...I was and the photo showed some random stretch of country road!

rainyskylight · 11/01/2023 20:48

Do you have a road nearby with a very similar name? We regularly have issues with a house on a street ten mins walk away. I once got really confused at the notification saying that my package was in the green bin, as requested. Our bins were emptied that day and I got really worried it had been taken by the recycling lorry! Luckily the photo showed the inside of the bin and I realised from the shape it wasn’t ours. Popped round to the other house and there was a message on the door saying “all packages please put in the green bin”. Rang the door, they weren’t in, so just helped myself from their bin. Must have looked like a right loon.

Wowwellokthen · 11/01/2023 20:51

Yes had this too...parcel (books) put in paper recycling bin and then....recycled! 🤨

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/01/2023 20:53

DH was in today, I was out. A lady from the other end of the village came round with my parcel. Our addresses have nothing in common apart from the village, county and postcode. She must live a good half mile away too! Total randomness on Evri's behalf.

Bit of a rude response to @iknowwheretheothersockgoes who was just trying to help. Could’ve just said “thanks, but…”
I think I did get out of bed on the wrong side today though. Grumpy arse I am.

iknowwheretheothersockgoes · 11/01/2023 20:59

@Snooks1971 I was confused by the response as I didn't suggest the poster should contact Evri, I said to contact the company the OP has placed the order through. It was a rude response and the OP hadn't bothered reading my reply <shrug>

Yes exactly, it was a perfectly clear and factual reply to try and help. (Big shrug from me too)

Choconut · 11/01/2023 21:08

You can contact Evri, because I did when ours was delivered somewhere else. They have 'chat' and I had to wait for someone to be free but I did get someone after a bit.

Ponderingwindow · 11/01/2023 21:09

Glad to see you got your package.
this happens every day in our neighborhood. We all get so many packages. Most just run them to the correct house. If we can’t for whatever reason we post on the neighborhood listserv to see if anyone as the contact details for the recipient.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/01/2023 19:23

Sorry, @iknowwheretheothersockgoes and @Snooks1971

My grumpy second message was not meant in response to @iknowwheretheothersockgoes , it was meant as a follow up to my original post, could have really been part of the original post . @iknowwheretheothersockgoes replied the the original post very quickly, so my second post looked like it was a reply, but that was not the intention. Apologies for looking rude and grumpy!

Ah get it @IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads 😀very good of you to come back! We can all be guilty of words in print not appearing as intended. I was super grumpy yesterday otherwise I wouldn’t have commented 😊
