Anyone struggling with medication shortages?

Hi all. I am diagnosed with ADHD and used to take dexamphetamine for it. I had to stop for a couple of years but wanted to start treatment again as I'm really, really struggling. It took me a few months to do everything required to get a prescription but now that I have one I can't source the drugs. The suppliers have stopped stocking them. I found one pharmacy who had 5 tablets left but that's all and they aren't expecting to have more anytime soon. I checked in a dozen pharmacies but no one had any stock. Now I'll have to somehow get another appointment with the psychiatrist to prescribe something else. This could be another few months at the glacial speed that both I and secondary care here move.

I know I'm lucky because I don't need to the meds to treat a life threatening condition but I'm still upset and worried. I want to function somewhat decently again. Also, was struggling to find antibiotics for DD a few weeks ago, which is probably more serious. A real antibiotics shortage will kill.

Anyway, I know there are lots of other drug shortages at the moment. I'm curious what other people are dealing with and also does anyone know what causing it? I am tempted to blame Brexit. Does anyone have any other theories (or actual knowledge...).

Apparently, because the pharmacy has partially filled tje prescription they can't just cancel it anymore. Oh no. This is too complicated.

My DM collected 14 days supply of epilepsy medication yesterday and was told that's all they had over their branches and no indication of when any more would arrive. Worrying, as you can't just stop taking epilepsy medication, you have to slowly withdraw over a few weeks and even so there are withdrawal symptoms.

Hope you've managed to get the medication you need now, OP.
