Super excited! We finally managed to book a trip to India

We are a group of three women in their late 30s. After much back and forth, we finally booked a 7-night trip to India. So we will visit the "Golden triangle," which includes Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, followed by two nights in Goa in late March. Unfortunately, none of us have ever visited India, so we're in uncharted territory. We've already scheduled a vaccination appointment with the doctor. Do you have any specific advice for us? It's a guided tour, so I don't expect too much trouble.

@Zanzibarz yay!! If you get a chance you may want to visit the Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsar, it's beautiful!

When is your trip booked for? Just to be mindful of the season there

My partner is Indian, I was last in India in November. It's an amazing place, enjoy!

determinedtomakethiswork · 09/01/2023 20:36

I think you'll need more than seven nights won't you?

Take some good footwear if your going to aghra, is that the one where you have to climb to the top?
I haven't been since I was 7 in the 80s so obviously things will have changed but good trainers I think is a must.
Take mosquito nets and insect deterent, and be careful of what you eat if you have a sensitive stomach. You don't want to get the runs two days in whilst your on the move

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 09/01/2023 20:39

Cover your shoulders, cover your knees and everything in-between.

You're gonna get propositioned A LOT. I think it was Jaipur where some man asked me to be his guru 😖

I was literally just looking at a very similar trip with DH. Who have you booked with OP? I was looking at the Mercury Holidays escorted tour which does the Golden Triangle.

Whoops! No idea why that posted so many times!

You don't need any jabs for that part of India.
Avoid ice and brush your teeth with bottled water.
You will be fine.

How did you get on? I'd love to know as I've been looking into booking a tour.

Zanzibarz · 20/05/2024 09:25

@FannythePinkFlamingo Sorry for the late reply—we had a great trip and really enjoyed it! We'd love to consider going back; overall, we had a lovely time. I was a bit skeptical at first, as we were three women traveling together, but we never faced any major issues. There was a funny incident where people wanted to take pictures with us, making us feel a bit like celebrities in some places. We loved visiting iconic places like Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. It was fascinating to see another culture and meet such welcoming people. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have. If you want more specific information, feel free to send me a personal message.
