Finding houseshares without communcal areas

I'm currently renting a studio flat, I love having my own space but struggle to afford it. There's not really many options out there for spending less money,

I'm tempted to go back into a houseshare but found some of those I've lived in in the past would be quite toxic at times.

Also my mental health hasn't been great in recent years and I feel like I just wanna have my own space to chill out when I'm not in work. I like chatting to people in the kitchen but thats about it.

I wouldnt mind living in a shared place if only if didnt have a living room (one of my previous places was like this). At least that way I get to save on bills but wouldn't have to see too much of anyone.

I use the spareroom website but there's no option to search for flats that specifically don't have a living room.

Does anyone have any recomenndations? do I just need to browse literally every spareroom ad to see which ones dont have living rooms?

Presumably you don't need to use a living room even if there were one. Try openrent

Surely just don't use the living room if you don't want to?

Lots of adults in professional house shares a similar.

Could you look at becoming a lodger?

Thanks for the replies, I used to do that at one of my old places but it seemed to annoy people if I didnt hang out with them... maybe I should just give it another try

I might go down the lodger route yes... it did occur to me that I can specify a 'max bedrooms' on the spareroom search so might try that

My DS never used the living room in his house share.

The last few lodgers we've had - pre Covid - have mostly stayed in their room. Suits us, and suits them.
