Does anyone remember that in private eye magazine there used to be a classified section where people would say "starving phd student" and give sort code and Acc number
Is that still going?!?

Buy a copy and find out. Support a great (anti) institution into the bargain.

I once placed one in the 90s as a desperate student. 😳 Nobody ever donated, however a “top dog” from the head office of the bank phoned to ask if I was ok and if I needed any help. I stupidly said no.

I was not subsequently recruited by MI6 or Aiden Quinn.

@Flapjackquack iirc (it was a long time ago!) - it was about £15. Presumably the bank would’ve offered an OD extension - perhaps bad publicity to have their sort-code in the mag.

I’ve recently placed ads there (for something entirely unrelated and NOT eye love! 😁) and it was surprisingly cheap. £130 for 4 issues I think.
