Anyone had a coil fall out?

Just that really, and what did it feel like?

I had my coil fitted in December 2021 and have not had a period since April 2022. Earlier today I had some mild cramps and thought I may be get a period, cramps went away after a few mins.

This evening I am feeling intense cramps to the point where I am struggling to do anything, my strings are normally wrapped around my cervix but I can feel them when checking. Just checked now and they are much lower down than usual.

No bleeding or anything but cramps feel too intense to be a period, particularly as all periods I have had since getting the coil fitted have been virtually painless.

Could it be falling out? It’s a hormonal coil not a copper one.

Thanks

Me- Twice-, one copper, one mirena. The copper one I felt/heard a kind of pop in the middle of a meeting at work and excused myself to find it had fallen out. I'd had it in nearly a year. The mirena didn't make a pop but did fall into the toilet one day. It had been in 3 months I didn't have any cramps and my strings were always low, especially at certain times of the month. I gave up on coils after that!

I've had two fall out.... both times I had really intense cramps for about an hour beforehand. One was in the middle of the night and they woke me up.

On both occasions I went to the loo and the coil emerged (sorry if TMI!) inside a large clot. The cramps stopped instantly once they were out which was the only positive thing about the whole sorry episodes 😩 I've given up with the coil now....

Yes! It resulted in my youngest child Grin.

Doctors did not seem surprised when I told them.

My mirena fell out while I was Christmas shopping with DH in November, encased in a massive blood clot. I had these weird contractions first which made me feel quite faint then 10 mins later I felt this weird sensation in my vagina and I had to hobble to the toilets and there it was.

Thanks all, I’ve taken some painkillers and cramps have improved so will keep an eye and see how things go.
